Having a work-life balance can often seem like an on-going battle and it can be something that people strive for their whole career. We are encouraging you all to set yourself some realistic work-life resolutions that will help to make 2016 your best year yet.

Work Life Balance

Have a lunch break away from your desk

No surprises here, our number one work-life resolution is food related! Whether it’s just 30 minutes or dare we say it a full hour, set a personal goal to step away from your desk, phone, laptop screen and paper work and have a break for lunch. Eat your own lunch or meet with a friend, whatever you do make sure it’s away from your desk. You’ll feel so much more refreshed and productive so make sure you make a habit of it!

Quit social media

Get ready for a social media detox. We spend so much of our time buried in social media we miss the things that are actually happening around us. When you get home try to get in the habit of not picking your phone up for the evening. Watch some TV, read a book, talk! Focus on the real things that are happening in your life and you’ll not only feel better you’ll be giving your eyes a good rest too.

Get active

Incorporating some activity in your day will have a huge positive impact. Studies have shown that just 20 minutes of exercise a day can improve your creativity and make you feel refreshed. Organise a running (or jogging) club with your work colleagues or aim to go to the gym two nights a week or do some yoga in your living room. Get active in 2016 and your mind and body will thank you.

Focus on your work passions

What is it about your job that makes you happy? Focus on these and try and increase the amount of time you spend doing the things you love. Make it your goal to tick off the jobs you don’t enjoy doing (but that need doing) first so you have more time to focus on the things you are passionate about.

Find a hobby

Finding an activity that you enjoy doing away from work is a really healthy resolution to make. Are you a budding cook? Do you fancy taking up yoga or joining a book club? Finding something that you enjoy outside of your working environment is essential to having a healthy work-life balance.
